part 696: D(RE)-Day
I promise I won't go fast

Christine, rightly enough, is worried about just what risk is involved in this riding of a motorcycle on a racetrack.
She has nothing to worry about.
This is the only known existing photo of yrs truly (number “TF” because I did not even merit a competitive plate number) at anything remotely resembling speed.
I’m not in this adventure for the speed. I’m excited by the process of following my bliss, of devotion to a passion bringing into being whatever it may.

By contrast, this photo is of my younger brother Jerry, from about the same period. Jerry pursued his own passion AND rode very fast.

Racer TF on a 125cc Bultaco Sherpa S, ca. 1972, feeling the effects of reduced blood flow to the brain caused by speed. Rooster tail no doubt added via Photoshop; couldn’t possibly be wheelspin.
Racer Jerry on a 250cc Bultaco Pursang, ca. 1971, feeling no ill effects of adrenaline flow to the entire body caused by speed. His plate (competition number 99G) has just been blown off. Rooster tail no doubt removed, via Photoshop, by jealous older brother.
